Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Rep. Pedro Acharon Jr led government officials during the groundbreaking ceremonies Fiday.
The Calumpang overpass is expected to ease vehicular traffic congestion in the area where the industrial zone of the city is located.
It is also home to three of the biggest public schools in the city: the General Santos City High School, the Romana C. Acharon Elementary School, and the H.N. Cahilsot Elementary School.
A mall owned by RD Group of Companies will likewise rise near the site of the pedestrian overpass, making Calumpang one of the busiest areas in the city.
